South Hampstead Weekday Minyan
South Hampstead Synagogue’s ‘Minyan’
(quorum for community prayers) prays together each weekday, as well
as on Shabbat and Chaggim (Holydays) enjoying an intimate, peaceful
atmosphere. The Minyan supports those who need to say
Kaddish, helps participants to get greater insights into the
prayers and also celebrates many ‘simchas’
(happy occasions) together throughout the year.
Shacharit morning service, regular times: Sunday
8.30am, Monday & Thursday 7.10am (with Torah reading), Tuesday,
Wednesday and Friday at 7.15am. Shacharit is followed by a
short and thought-provoking piece of Jewish learning from Rabbi
Shlomo. We end between 7.50-8am. It's a great way to
start the day. A light breakfast is served on Wednesdays and
sponsorship is available should you wish to sponsor a brekfast
celebrate a happy occasion.
On weekday Rosh Chodesh (start of the new month), Chol
Hamoed (intermediate days of Pesach and
Succot) and Tzomot (fast days), we start at
7am. Please check the front page of the website to
confirm each week’s times or call the office answer phone on
020 7722 1807.
We also offer a short, confidential program simply and
informally teaching the art of laying
Tefilin for Shacharit and
following all of the services for those who are
keen to learn but so far haven't got round to it. You are welcome
to use the Tefilin belonging to the Shul if you have none of your
own. Please contact Rabbi Michael for details in
confidence at michael@southhampstead.org
Mincha (afternoon) &
Ma'ariv (evening) services are
held together during the summer, normally at 7pm. During the
winter, Maariv only is normally at 7pm.
Times may change due to sunset and other related times that
govern when Mincha and Maariv are said.
Please check the front page of the website or the
Shul answer phone on 020 7722 1807 to confirm each week’s
times.
Those unfamiliar with the service have the opportunity to sit with
a ‘davening buddy’ to help navigate
through the prayers in a sensitive and confidential manner.
Please email Rabbi Michael in confidence at michael@southhampstead.org
if you would like to take this opportunity.
Please send an email entitled 'Weekday Minyan' to Andrew Maurice at
andrewmaurice@mac.com
or to Rabbi Michael at michael@southhampstead.org
if you have any questions.
We look forward to seeing you. Both men and women attend
weekday prayers.
